Flatsitter
FLATSITTER is an interdisciplinary collaborative that incorporates video, film, software programming, performance and installation. The artistic works nurture a perception of society, community and environment as interlocking parts of a creative experience and are exhibited in an array of formats, such as ephemeral web collections, live performances, site-specific installations, short films, and live virtual reality experiences.Flatsitter is the first-ever artist to receive an individual artist grant from the New York State Council on the Arts for a virtual reality project, and was one of three artists from New York selected for a New York / Quebec residency exchange.Flatsitter has presented at the 2016 Moogfest; 2016 Satellite Art Show at Art Basel Miami Beach; the 2015 and 2016 Ann Arbor Film Festival (Ann Arbor, MI); the 2016 Casper Sleep Symposium in NYC; “The Sound Behind You II” at CR10 in Hudson, NY; In the Soil Festival (St. Catharines, Ontario); Everson Museum of Art (Syracuse, NY); Hallwalls Contemporary Art Center (Buffalo, NY); Burchfield Penney Art Center (Buffalo, NY); and Grave:point Studios at Silent Barn (NYC). Flatsitter received a New York State Council on the Arts Finishing Funds award distributed by The ARTS Council of the Southern Finger Lakes to complete In Between Spaces, a public art project that exhibits utopian video works in unexpected spaces.
