Kramden Institute
Kramden Institute is a Durham, NC-based nonprofit organization dedicated to providing students, families, and communities with the technology tools and training to bridge the digital divide. Our core program, Kramden Tech Scholars, awards free refurbished computers to low-income students across North Carolina. Our education programs offer classes for students and adults covering topics ranging from computer basics and safe internet usage to game design and digital creativity.
Since our founding in 2003, we have awarded more than 26,000 computers in 78 of North Carolina's 100 counties. In the past 2 1/2 years, our education programs have served more than 1,500 people. More than 2,000 volunteers contribute their time and talent every year. Last year, we recycled 298,000 pounds of e-waste.
