Tanner Upthegrove holds undergraduate degrees in Recording Arts and Business from Full Sail University and is pursuing a MFA in Theatre: Spatial Audio at Virginia Tech. Tanner joined Virginia Tech's Institute for Creativity, Arts, and Technology in 2013 as audiovisual design and technology engineer, and has been recognized with awards for excellence by Systems Contractor News and Virginia Tech's President Timothy Sands. Tanner is technical director and artistic collaborator for research and concerts in three of Virginia Tech's four spatial audio labs. Tanner is an active member in the Audio Engineering Society and has been published by IEEE and the Computer Music Journal.
