Tom Richards

Mick Grierson, Rebecca Fiebrink and Tom Richards are key members of the London-based Embodied Audiovisual Interaction Group at Goldsmiths. EAVI produce new technology for the creative industries, based on their research in digital signal processing, real-time interaction and machine learning. At MOOGFEST they will be demonstrating their new AI system for modular synths, and Tom Richard's new version of the Oramics machine, originally designed by British Music Tech Pioneer, Daphne Oram. AI for synths : free hands-on machine learning for synth control. Goldsmiths researchers Rebecca Fiebrink and Mick Grierson introduce their new cross-platform machine learning and synthesis toolkit, RAPIDLib. Come and learn how to create synthesisers driven through artificial neural networks, offering intelligent control of large numbers of synth parameters with just a few knobs, motion controllers or even biosignals. They will also present a hardware modular synth that uses machine learning to control a range of synthesiser parameters via Control Voltage, baking AI into your modular setup. Please bring a laptop for the machine learning workshop.
