Valencia S. Wood, CYT

Valencia is a certified Yantra Yoga teacher and a student of internationally-renowned Fabio Andrico, Chogyal Namkai Norbu’s foremost student. She deems herself as a world citizen with the belief that true and committed learning about cultures — outside of her own — lends to understanding, peace and community. Valencia began practicing yoga 17 years ago. With the loss of all of her immediate family members, she has gained a renewed commitment and passion for wellness, teaching and serving. As she built her practice, studied and began to teach, she realized that many of the lessons that her mom taught her coincided with yoga teachings. Valencia understands that students look-up to a teacher as the master of his or her craft, seeking meaningful, real advice and knowledge. At the same time, they are seeking to build a solid foundation that will not crumble under mistakes, pressure, loss and the self-discovery that everyone experiences. She believes that teaching yoga is a beautiful blessing, and she takes her responsibility as a yoga teacher very seriously. Valencia teaches this philosophy as the basis for dismantling problems and building confidence, self-esteem and focus, while simultaneously using asanas, meditation, mindfulness, and art. She believes when students are given the proper ingredients, it is completely possible for them to take another path and break through barriers. Along with Joseph Murray, Valencia is also the co-creator of Yoga After Dark -- a multi-sensory, surround sound and movement experience -- and has co-produced music. She has performed voiceover work for authors and radio stations around the world. Additionally, Valencia has eclectic taste, a keen eye for design, and elegant floral and food arrangements. Last, but certainly not least, she loves to read, write and create.
