Synthesizer Ensemble Workshop Inspired by Suzanne Ciani

In her live modular performances, electronic music pioneer Suzanne Ciani uses four sets of predefined pitches, each in a 16-step sequencer, that serve as the basic for the tonality of an improvised performance. In this hands-on workshop, participants will use tempo-synced Moog Mother 32 synthesizers, set up with Suzanne’s tone rows, to create improvised mini performances. Participants will learn basic ideas about how to create this type of electronic music, how to shape the sound of a synthesizer, and how a group of synthesizers so they can perform together.

** This workshop is free and open to the public as part of Moogfest’s The Joyful Noise of STEAM program, and is appropriate for children ages 8 and up. A festival ticket is not required to attend. 
** This workshop is limited in capacity and offered on a first come first served basis. Please plan to arrive at the venue at least 15 minutes prior to the beginning of the session. 
** Entrance is not guaranteed.
