5U Modular: An Inside Look

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

Bob Moog introduced the world’s first voltage-controlled subtractive synthesizer in 1963 and soon after, his company pioneered the commercial production of this new class of instrument. Although the large-scale modular designs of the 60s and 70s were eventually overtaken by the accessibility and compact designs of hardwired synthesizers, the original full-form (5U) modular systems remain coveted for their unparalleled sonic flexibility. Join Rosser Douglas, Tim Johnston and Nathaniel Murphy of Moog Music Inc as they present a detailed discussion on the design, manufacturing, and functionality of a 5U Modular Synthesizer.
