Creative Magic: Musical Technology and Ritual in 21st-Century Shamanic Practice

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

Amos Gaynes draws from two worlds of experience, as a developer of musical technology and as a performer, organizer, and dancer in the Southeastern US psychedelic trance party scene. In this talk he shares a firsthand perspective on what makes a dance party into a shamanic ritual, and explores how this synthesis of technology and mysticism can harmonize mind, body, and spirit.  As a tool for the social construction of reality, technoshamanistic practice has the potential to enhance personal well-being and connection to higher self and community.

Special thanks to Nontokozo F. Sihwa for invaluable research assistance and preparation.
