We are in love with gear. It goes beyond the music: whether for production or playback, lo-fi or hi-fi, analogue or digital… we are talking about  inanimate romance. What drives a passion for designing, making, remaking and collecting audio equipment? How does one go from garage workshop to the production line, or from electrical engineering to artistry? What makes a particular synth special or a turntable collectible? And how can you tell when you’ve found the “one”?
