Interfacing synths and visuals with drums through Sensory Percussion. In the same way that there are infinities between any two numbers, an acoustic drum can respond with infinite variation to the human touch. The timbral characteristics of drums are continuous, dimensionally deep, and intimately tied to our musical impulses. In this presentation, Tlacael Esparza, Co-founder of Sunhouse and creator of groundbreaking electronic drum technology Sensory Percussion, will demonstrate how these fundamental characteristics of drums can enable truly expressive and intuitive control for electronic processes. Through demonstration and performances with special guests, we will focus on the synesthetic space between acoustic vibration and video/audio synthesis.
