The recent transformation of Durham, NC from a town built on tobacco and textiles to a modern vibrant city is nothing short of amazing. Take a hot jobs market, a reasonable cost of living, and add in world-class restaurants and entertainment, and who wouldn’t want to be a part of it? Sprinkle in great schools, global corporations, and a wealth of entrepreneurial companies with a diverse mix of people from all areas and walks of life. Given that canvas, The Art Institute of Raleigh-Durham, a branch of Miami International University of Art & Design, couldn’t have a better home!

Situated in the historical American Tobacco District, the campus, which opened in 2008, is a vibrant area complete with outdoor waterfalls, outdoor lounging and studying areas, and an overall creative vibe which matches the unbridled creativity of our students.

Our programs are focused on creative careers featuring Design, Media Arts, Fashion, and Culinary. While we have students and faculty who have won many awards and accolades, I am most proud of the journey they take on each project to develop a work of art—be it a delicate pastry, an exciting video game, an eye-catching window display, or an interesting graphic identity.
